Castle Carrock . . . a beautiful Cumbrian village in the North Pennines

Primary School

Castle Carrock Primary SchoolSituated next to the church and village hall, and overlooking the fells, the village has had a school for almost 150 years. The children come from Castle Carrock itself as well as several surrounding villages and outlying farms; the majority coming to school by mini-bus. There are at present (2017) 85 children aged 3 to 11 on roll. The head teacher is Ms Rebecca Stacey. The original school was built in 1874; however, there have been numerous improvements to the buildings and facilities over the years. In particular, a new hall, additional classrooms and a new kitchen were added in 1999, while a multi-use games area and playground improvements in recent years have greatly enhanced the play and sports facilities. An Early Years classroom and safe play area were completed in 2000 for the Nursery and Reception children, with a further additional classroom being added in 2003. In 2008 a listening/reading room for use by Key Stage 1 and a Planning and Preparation room for staff was added. You can find out more about Castle Carrock Primary School here.
