Castle Carrock has held a summer carnival for many years. It’s usually on the last Saturday of June. It’s organised by the Friends of Castle Carrock School, with help from many people in the village and surrounding locality. The day is a chance for the village to have fun together, and to raise money for local causes. Castle Carrock Primary School leavers of the year and their parents help to decorate a trailer for the opening ceremony, which always has a theme. 2010 was the World Cup. Stalls range from “Chuck a Wet Sponge” to “The Slow Bicycle Race” to “Guess where the hen is going to poop?”. The Watson Institute puts on a splendid array of teas. And the sun always shines.
