Castle Carrock Autumn Show
The Castle Carrock Autumn Show was re-introduced in 2010 after a gap of several years. Its aim was not only to raise some money for St Peters church restoration but also to provide a fun event for the people of Castle Carrock - adults and children. It's an informal event for amateur growers, bakers and craftspeople. The school was involved, with all children invited to create a scarecrow from a wooden spoon. These were shown on the village green. We had a 'men only' Victoria sponge cake class - which had the biggest number of entries. And so it turned out to be a success and it was decided to repeat the event in 2011.
2011 sees some changes to last year's schedule. The men only sponge cake class remains, there is a Lego class for children and there is a class for ladies only to decorate a chocolate cake. Two classes have been sponsored by national companies; a home baked loaf, sponsored by Carrs Milling and a fruit cake, sponsored by Whitworths.

The competitor gaining the most points will win the Margaret Forster Memorial Plate, a silver plate to be held for one year, kindly donated in 1982 by a local farming family.
2012 will be the 30th birthday of the introduction of a Village Show in Castle Carrock - who needs the Olympic Games or the Queen's Diamond Jubilee ?!
