Castle Carrock . . . a beautiful Cumbrian village in the North Pennines

Indoor Bowling Club

The village indoor bowling group have been meeting every other Thursday in the Watson Institute since 2003. We never know how many people are likely to attend – it can be up to 8 or 9 bowlers. Only once can we remember not playing due to low numbers (when only 2 attended!).

We choose teams by drawing from a pack of cards – so we’re not playing the same members each meeting. We don’t necessarily abide strictly to all the rules – bowls is supposed to be a quiet, sedate sort of game – but not ours! We can be quite noisey, especially when the floor board ridges give the bowl a little “wobble”. To counteract this, we place the mat slightly askew across the floor – but it doesn’t always work!

We have a break at half time for tea, coffee and biscuits. A good time is had by all, with lots of friendly banter.
