Today, Tue 24th March 2020 we have been advised by our City Councillor that it is not legal to hold an electronic meeting . Central government is currently working on amending this law in the light of the current Coronavirus pandemic, but until such time that the law is actually changed our hands are tied.

Apologies for this, and please be assured that your Councillors are all still here to help, and can be contacted at any time.

We will of course keep you updated once we have the next meeting scheduled.

In the meantime - stay safe and follow government policy.


Further to notification (below)  that the next meeting of Castle Carrock & Geltsdale Parish Council will be held electronically:- If any parishioner would like to join this online meeting at 19:30 on Thursday 26th March via the Zoom platform, they will need to email me so that I can give them details of how to join the meeting, preferably at least by midday on Thursday so that I can be sure to get back to them in time.

Due to current circumstances brought on by the Coronavirus pandemic, the parish council are having to hold the meeting rescheduled from March 11th electronically.

The electronic meeting will be held at 7:30pm on Thursday 26th March. Any parishioner who would like to 'listen in' to the meeting, or say something to the council before the meeting commences is very welcome to do so. Alternatively they can contact the clerk in advance of the meeting and information will be relayed. 

Details of which electronic platform is to be used will be posted on this page, the village notice board and the Castle Carrock Community Hub Facebook page once we have ascertained which one it will be (bear with us...this is all new to us too!). We realise that this is not an ideal way to hold a meeting but for now we are unable to come up with a better solution.

The Parish Council meets regularly to discuss local issues. 

The councillors elect a chairman (currently: George Devereux) and a vice chairman, while the Parish Clerk is Tricia Meynell. The Parish Council meets every two months to discuss any issues relevant to the parish. The meeting place is in The Watson Institute and it takes place on a Wednesday evening, generally falling either on the second Wednesday of second month. Occasionally dates are changed and these will be advertised on the Castle Carrock Community Hub Facebook page.

An agenda is posted on both this website and the village notice board at least five days before a meeting. Minutes from the meetings are similarly posted.
